Jennifer Lopez’s All-Time Best Looks and Style Evolution

From her iconic green Versace gown at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards to her appearance at the 91st Annual Academy Awards, Jennifer Lopez has reigned over the red carpet. After years of fashion-forward appearances, the singer is being honored for her stylish sensibility at The Council of Fashion Designers awards.

The actor and singer will receive the award for Fashion Icon during the CFDA’s upcoming June ceremony, Women’s Wear Daily reports. She joins past Fashion Icon award recipients including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Rihanna.

As for why Jennifer was chosen this year, CFDA chairwoman, Diane von Furstenberg explained in a statement to WWD, saying, “Jennifer Lopez uses clothes as a way to express confidence and power. Both designers and fans look forward to her fashion statements.” Plus, the Versace dress that she wore to the 2000 Grammys is the reason that “Google search” exists, something we all now use compulsively to find out what our favorite celebrities were wearing. The pink Juicy Couture tracksuit that she wore in her “I’m Real” video that launched the moment that women all over the world were searching department stores for their velour or terrycloth fit.

In response to the future award, Jennifer responded with a post on Instagram. “Truly excited to be named @CFDA’s Fashion Icon this year,” she wrote in a caption that accompanied a video of her past looks. “What an honor.”
